How I Create a Cozy Home for the Holidays
I’m very much in the Christmas spirit this year. I purchased my Christmas outfit back in October and I’m ready to go get my tree already!
There’s something so special about being greeted by the scent of fresh balsam when I get home from work, turning on the tree lights, and making myself a Christmas cocktail or white chocolate peppermint tea from Teavana.
It’s so important to create a space that you look forward to come home to everyday, especially around the holidays! Here are five ways I create a cozy home for the holidays. Hope you enjoy!
I grew up in a house where the stockings were one of the highlights of Christmas. My mom always filled our stockings with the best products, candy, and sweet surprises. And she still does to this day. I am very particular about my stocking and I love one that’s personalized. I found a few at target that I liked and couldn’t decide which ones to get!
Whenever I travel, I try to pick up a Christmas ornament from the region I’m visiting. When it’s time to put the Christmas tree up I get to reminisce about all the beautiful memories from my travels. My tree is a reflection of all the places I’ve visited and that makes me smile.
I love to decorate my bar cart with a dainty string of lights, candles and some greenery too.
2. Stay Lit
Part of creating that cozy feel in your home includes lighting the best holiday candles. I love Fresh Balsam and Twisted Peppermint from Bath and Body Works. Candles are currently on sale for $12.50 (normally $20) Woop woop!
3. Get your playlist on
Christmas music has been on repeat in my home and it creates such a festive feel for decorating and great background tunes for baking. I’m currently loving Leslie Odom Jr.’s Simply Christmas. I may have listened to it over a thousand times already! And of course, there’s the classic Merry Christmas album by Mariah Carey. If that doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit I don’t know what will!
I made A Daily Croissant Christmas Playlist. Clicky click below to get your Christmas on!
4. Put on your coziest PJ’s
Another Christmas tradition in my family was getting new PJ’s from my mom on Christmas Eve. My mom always picked out the best sets. I remember my favorite was a pair with doughnuts all over them! I love matching Pajama sets and you can find the best ones in the stores around the holidays.
Come home, throw on your pj’s, and cozy up with a good ol’ Christmas movie like One Magic Christmas or one of my favorites, The Holiday!
5. Bake Something
My favorite holiday gifts are edible ones and I know so many people love to receive them. J’adore peppermint bark, but the good stuff can get expensive, so I’ve decided to make my own this year with some good ingredients and a lot of love. Here’s the recipe I’m going to try. I’ll share the verdict in a future post!
If baking isn’t your thing, grab some pillsbury slice and bake chocolate chip cookies and enjoy. No judgement here!
I hope this post puts you in the holiday spirit! Come back on December 1st as we launch the 12 days of Christmas, Daily Croissant style. I’ll be sharing one thing each day to bring you more joy during the holiday season!
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
