New England Getaway
This past week I traveled to Plymouth, Massachusetts to see family and spend a few days of summer enjoying this beautiful coastal New England town.
13 years ago my aunt moved to Plymouth to live closer to my cousins and I love that we can get away to visit her at least once a year. We usually start the weekend off with dinner at her house and end the night with a dance party! She has the most beautiful home with a fantastic view of the ocean right from her bedroom window #goals.
The smell of basil always brings me back to the days of spending my childhood at her house and enjoying the best food cooked by her and my mom.
My boyfriend Phillip brought a fantastic rosé that we enjoyed on the fall-like evening with some fresh baguettes, cheeses, and meats.
We gathered around the fire sipping rosé and sharing lots of laughs.
Dinner was the most scrumptious Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with fresh basil my aunt cut from her garden and tomatoes my mom brought from a local farmer. I only hope that one day I can make this dish as good as these ladies do.
We celebrated my cousin Jay’s birthday with a variety of cakes from Two Little Red Hens in NYC (also compliments of Phillip). Their carrot cake is to die for!
Always Eat at The Blue Eyed Crab
We never visit Plymouth without hitting up my cousin’s restaurant, The Blue Eyed Crab. It’s like stepping into a seaside restaurant in the Caribbean. Sit outside on the patio and sip a charred pineapple mojito or pear-cilantro margarita for great views of Plymouth bay. Don’t leave without grabbing some Chloe James apple jalapeño hot sauce, named after my cousin Chloe and Roxy’s Ass-Kickin mango habanero hot sauce, named after her French bulldog, Roxy. My cousins are opening up a French restaurant in the fall and I can’t wait to go back for a visit when it opens!
Do we have to leave?
We ended the visit with a walk around town for some shopping and a stop-off at my cousin’s boat.
We stopped for a pick-me-up at Maui Wowi before heading back home. Get the frozen cappuccino; you won’t be disappointed!
Plan your stay
If you’re planning a visit to Plymouth, there are plenty of B&B’s to stay in and lots of to explore in this historical town.
